Welcome to our new www.holyskete.com website, where we plan to share news and pictures of the Hermitage of The Holy Protection. Our Skete was founded by Met. Hilarion and Abbot Tikhon. Our beloved Metropolitan Hilarion passed away in 2022 and we are dedicated to keeping his loving memory alive with us, as we strive to build a spiritual refuge for the Orthodox faithful. The Skete is located in the Pinewoods of New Jersey, in an area settled by Cossacks in the 1950’s.
Thank you all donors and supporters of the Hermitage of the Holy Protection. We could not exist without your generous donations and support. After the passing of Met. Hilarion, we are no longer receiving any donations from the Fund for Assistance. In 2023, there are 2 main projects in process:
- A memorial monument for +Met Hilarion; and,
- Creating a chapel in honor of the myrrh-streaming Hawaiian Iveron Mother of God Icon.
Other work needs to be done at the Hermitage, but the projects will have to wait until funding is available. If you wish to help the Skete, please send your donations directly to us through this website. Thank you and God bless you for your kindness!
